An icon, a leader, a friend to the world. Diana Spencer was born on July 1, 1961, and died on August 31, 1997. She passed away in a tragic car accident in Paris at the age of 36, outlived by her sons William and Harry. She lived a life filled with love, love for her country, love for children, and love for people. Diana was a passionate woman, to say the least, and she was most passionate with regard to the causes she held dearest. Diana wanted to make a difference in other people's lives. She was president to hundreds of organizations that focused on supporting charitable causes. Although it had been known that many members of the Royal family donated money towards charitable organizations, Diana was different. She not only donated money, but she gave her time and energy to people in need. Diana went to hospitals to nurture the ill, she traveled around the world to support those in need. Given her position, she realized she could be the voice of change. She knew that being in the public eye gave her the opportunity to make a difference. It takes a certain dedication within an individual to devote such time, money, and love, to so many causes. Diana was not some celebrity, divorcee, or socialite. She was a philanthropist, she was a mother, and she was the “People’s Princess.”
